grace's Story

Year 9 pupil

04 Mar

I joined Princethorpe in Year 8 from King Henry's in Coventry, my brother was here already, he is in Year 11.  I came to look round then came on a Taster Day and really enjoyed it, everybody was so nice and the cookies were wonderful!

The atmosphere here at Princethorpe is really special, everyone is lovely and that makes school fun.  I like that the school is situated in the countryside, it’s very beautiful here.

I am much more of a doer than a writer so I enjoy lessons that are practical and hands on like PE where you play sport, making and playing music in Music, and Spanish because I like it when we practise speaking.

I am in Benet House and my tutor group is BRH.  I have taken part in some of the House competitions, we sang I Just Can’t Wait To Be King from the film The Lion King in the House Singing Competition and I also took part in House University Challenge.

My favourite part of the school day is lunchtimes because that is when I can talk to my friends.

Going to Princethorpe is great, I can’t think of anything I would want to change.

Who is your favourite teacher?

I really like Miss Philpott, she teaches me RS.  It is obvious she really cares about what she does.

Do you play any instruments?

I play the cello; I took my Grade 5 exam last November and was really pleased to pass.  I play in the school orchestra, we practise every Tuesday after school.

Do you do any other after-school clubs?

I play hockey on a Monday and Netball on a Wednesday, I play for the Hockey A team and the Netball B team, we have had a good season, we have won a lot.  I also learn piano outside of school, play hockey for Hampton in Arden and attend the County Hockey Junior Academy Centre.

Have you been on any school trips?

I have been on the ski trip and I also went on the Holland hockey tour last October.  I am looking forward to going to Vienna with the Orchestra in the summer holidays.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I would like to be a teacher when I am older, I would like go abroad to a non-English speaking country such as Spain and teach English there.
