Pupils Awarded Achievement Trophy At International Musical Theatre Festival

On Saturday 23 May, the cast of our forthcoming Key Stage 3 production of Legally Blonde Jr represented the College at the Music Theatre International Junior Festival at the ICC in Birmingham.
They enjoyed an amazing opportunity to get on stage alongside 1,000 pupils from schools and theatre companies from across Europe.
Pupils showcased a 15-minute excerpt of the production in front of a panel of professional musical theatre judges. They received fantastic feedback and constructive advice from the expert adjudicators and, even more impressively, were awarded a trophy for Achievement in Dance. In addition, Liv Davey (Sixth Form) was recognised with a special award for Student Creative Achievement - an outstanding individual honour.
As well as performing scenes from Legally Blonde Jr to the panel, pupils also took part in workshops led by West End and Broadway professionals to develop their skills in singing, acting and dance, were treated to previews of upcoming Broadway Junior shows, and a spectacular concert performance from Rob Houchen (from the West End productions of Les Misérables and Titanique).
Director of Music, Gil Cowlishaw, was delighted and commented, "It really was an amazing day, and the buzz pupils got from the experience will only add to the spectacle that will be our summer production of Legally Blonde Jr". He added, "We are already looking at how we can open up such an inspiring opportunity to many more Princethorpe pupils next year."
Legally Blonde Jr takes place in the Clarkson Theatre from Thursday 11 to Saturday 13 June. Tickets are available here.
