Over the Michaelmas half term, Princethorpe College’s U15 Boys’ and U15 Girls’ Hockey teams travelled to the Netherlands for the first leg of the school’s long-running annual Hockey Tour.
Hosted by the welcoming Hopbel Hockey Club, the tour offered pupils a fantastic opportunity to experience Dutch culture and immerse themselves in a vibrant hockey community.
Both teams were warmly received by their host families, giving them a taste of traditional Dutch life. Off the pitch, the pupils enjoyed a walking tour of the historic town of Den Bosch and a thrilling day at the famous Efteling theme park.
On the hockey front, the teams showed great progress in both tactical and technical aspects of their game. The Girls' U15 squad played four matches, winning three and narrowly losing one to Hopbel. The Boys'U15 team played three matches, securing two wins and also falling short against the hosts in a competitive fixture.
Tour leader and Teacher of PE and Games, James Long, said, “We had a super tour and I am very proud of all our pupils. They made the most of opportunity to get to know their host families and played excellent hockey. We look forward to welcoming our Dutch friends in the spring for the return leg.”
Huge thanks go to all the staff involved in supporting and running the hockey tour: Ellie Callan, James Long, Rachael Mack and Paul Whitehead.
