Princethorpe Pupils Shine In Inaugural UK Bebras Coding Challenge

06 May

Huge congratulations to Theo Cowlishaw (best in Year 8), Dami Ajagunna (best in Year 9), Erik Windham and Jasper Nicholls (best in Year 10), Daniel Ovens (best in Year 11), and Sophie Nicolle (best in Sixth Form), who have all achieved Gold Certificates in the first-ever UK Bebras Coding Challenge.

Their exceptional performance placed them in the top 10% of participants nationwide - an outstanding accomplishment!

A follow on to the UK Bebras Challenge and successor to the Oxford University Computing Challenge, the UK Bebras Coding Challenge is a new competition that provides the next step for Bebras participants eager to expand their coding abilities. Over the course of 45 minutes, pupils tackle computational thinking problems suited to their age and skill level, honing their programming skills, building confidence and fostering creative problem-solving.

This year, 31 Princethorpe pupils, from Year 8 through to the Sixth Form, opted to take part in the challenge, showcasing their aptitude for coding. Impressively, 16 of them ranked among the top 25% nationally.

Head of Computer Science, Ed Musson, praised their achievements, saying: "Computational thinking is an invaluable skill, empowering pupils to solve problems with logic and creativity. These young people have demonstrated mastery far beyond their years and it’s truly inspiring to see their talents recognised in such a prestigious competition."
