In April, pupils from Princethorpe College participated in the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) Junior Mathematics Challenge, a prestigious national competition designed to promote problem-solving and reward mathematical excellence amongst the best young mathematicians in the country.
The Challenge, which takes the form of a multiple-choice assessment, is open to pupils in Years 7 and 8 , with all papers submitted to the UKMT for marking. High-achieving candidates are awarded Bronze, Silver, or Gold certificates in recognition of their performance.
This year, 87 of Princethorpe’s most promising young mathematicians were selected to take part. The College is delighted to report that its pupils achieved outstanding results, reflecting both their ability and the strength of mathematics teaching at Princethorpe.
Special congratulations are extended to Tegan (Year 8), who not only achieved a Gold certificate, but also emerged as the highest-scoring pupil in the school. Tegan, along with Ethan and Arthur, achieved scores qualifying them for the next stage of the competition - the highly demanding Intermediate Kangaroo round.
Well done also to Gold certificate recipients: Eloise, Darcey C, Max, Monty, Austin, Jessica and Darcey W-S and to all the pupils who earned themselves Silver and Bronze certificates.
