College Celebrates Another Exciting Winter Sports Season

05 Apr

Princethorpe College’s Winter Sports Awards were presented during the last week of the Lent Term. It was an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements of the College’s young sportsmen and sportswomen at all levels and across all sports.

This year, for the first time, awards were presented to the Junior (Years 7 and 8), Intermediate (Years 9 and 10) and Senior (Year 11, Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth) Sports Girl and Sports Boy as well as the Boys’ and Girls’ Team of the Season, providing more opportunities to pay tribute to all those who show such commitment to sport here at Princethorpe.

Foundation Director of Sport, Lee Cassell, Head of Girls' Games, Carly Walton, and Head of Boys’ Games, Joe Jackson, shared shortlists for each award.

Recognising their success across the year, the Girls Sports' Team Of The Season was awarded to the U12 Girls’ Hockey Team while the Boys Sports' Team Of The Season went to the Senior Boys’ Cross Country Team.

The individual awards were presented to:

  • Junior Sports Girl – Esme Card
  • Junior Sports Boy – Rufus Jones
  • Intermediate Sports Girl – Lola Esler
  • Intermediate Sports Boy – Angus Griffin
  • Senior Sports Girl – Jemima Teeton
  • Senior Sports Boy – Ollie Farquharson

Mr Cassell commented, “Congratulations to all the award winners, it has been another very successful winter season for the College with plenty to celebrate across the school. Huge thanks to all the pupils for their commitment and effort and to the coaching staff and parents for their dedication to school sport.”
