16 Medals For Princethorpe At The ISA National Athletics Championships

17 Jun

After success at the ISA Midlands Athletics, on Monday 15 June, Princethorpe took a team of 19 athletes to ISA National Track and Field Athletics Championships at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.

It was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to compete against the very best opposition at a pre-eminent national event. Princethorpe’s medal haul included eight Gold medals, six Silvers and two Bronze medals, a truly fantastic set of results.

Congratulations to national champions, Marisa who claimed Gold in both the Discus and Shot, Finley who took Gold  in the 800m and the Relay, Wesley who took Gold in the Javelin and Bronze in the 1500m, Dami and Grace who both took Gold in the High Jump and Dax who won Gold in the Relay and Bronze in the Triple Jump. Well done also to Lucile who brought home two Silver medals in the Hurdles and the Relay, Huxley and Zarah who both earned themselves Silver in the High Jump, Mimi who took Silver in the 300m and Seun who won Silver in the Discus.  A number of pupils only just missed a medal after finishing in fourth or fifth place.

Foundation Director of Sport, Lee Cassell, was delighted commenting, “A huge well done to all of our athletes for an excellent performance. They responded so well to the top-class competition they faced. Their tenacity, determination, good humour and camaraderie made for a fantastic experience for the whole team, we are hugely proud of them all.”
