Our House Raised The Roof
Our College’s Musical Theatre Group production of Our House was just superb.
The show took place from Thursday 5 to Saturday 7 February and, to the evident delight of the audiences, the Clarkson theatre was filled with the evocative and crowd-pleasing music of popular British band Madness.
Our House followed the story of London lad Joe Casey. On the night of his sixteenth birthday, Joe takes Sarah, the girl of his dreams, out in Camden Town. On a whim, he breaks into a development to show Sarah the view over north London. When the police come, Joe faces a tough decision: to run, or give himself up. It is at this point that the story split in two and we followed the fortunes, and misfortunes, of Good Joe and Bad Joe.
Our House was full of classic songs and the cast rose to the challenge of the music, delivering a vibrant and exuberant performance full of enthusiasm. The songs were so infectious that we are all still humming along after what was a most entertaining and enjoyable show.
Congratulations to everyone involved, on stage and behind the scenes and especially to the Directors, Mr Cowlishaw and Ms Newborough. We are now all looking forward to the Trinity Term and the College’s summer musical for the Lower School!
