Duke Of Edinburgh’s Award Achievements Celebrated
Pupils, parents, invited guests and staff gathered together on Wednesday 21 January for our annual Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Celebration Evening.
It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on pupils’ achievements and celebrate all those who have successfully completed their Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards.
Tamsin Frost, Duke of Edinburgh Manager, opened the evening thanking the many who give so much to support the scheme, including Richard Lea from PAU Expeditions and Suzie Richards from Azarias, as well as staff members, especially Alan Stapleton and Katie Strange, and all who assist with the expeditions and act as assessors.
Throughout the evening, the Gold Award groups delivered presentations, sharing their expedition aims and adventures and reflecting on the lessons they have learnt.
In turn, pupils were presented with their Certificates to mark the completion of their Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards. This year a total of 108 pupils received Bronze Awards, 38 Silver Awards and 30 Gold Awards.
Headmaster, Grove du Toit, commented, “The Awards celebration was a superb opportunity to get together to celebrate the achievements of our young people. I am always impressed by the breadth of their endeavour to do these awards and to do them well. Outdoor Education is a huge part of life here at Princethorpe College, developing pupils’ independence, perseverance, strength of character and even, at times, their sense of humour.”
Completing your Gold Award is a really big achievement, so all these young people will now be invited to a Gold Award celebration event at a Royal Palace, one final expedition which we are sure they will enjoy.
