Success For College Teams At ISA Midlands Cross Country

Princethorpe’s runners had an excellent outing at the ISA Midlands Cross Country.
This year’s competition took place at a new venue, Ashley Manor School in Cheltenham, on Tuesday 20 January. Princethorpe has always done well at this event and, once again, there were lots of top 20 finishes for the College.
The Year 7 Boys, Year 7 Girls and Years 8/9 Boys teams all finished in overall first place with the Years 8/9 Girls finishing in second, a really super result. (The top five runners counted towards the team score.)
Princethorpe took 35 pupils and the course proved exciting and challenging with a long climb near the start that was draining on the legs, and at one point, an almost vertical short hill climb.
For the Year 7 Boys, Wesley ran a brilliant race to come home first across the line, taking the individual Gold medal. Jasper was just behind in 3rd to claim Bronze, Oscar was 5th, Ollie 10th and Leo 15th. In the Year 7 Girls race, Jess H had a good run and just missed a medal, finishing 4th with Ava not far behind in 11th, Roisin 13th and Grace 14th.
Then, in the Years 8/9 Boys race Oliver was 7th, Rupert 12th, Will 16th and Rufus 19th. For the Years 8/9 Girls, Jess G also just missed a medal after finishing 4th, Eloise was 14th and Esme 18th.
The National Championships will take place on Saturday 28 February at Himley Hall in Derbyshire. We wait to hear who will be selected for the Midlands Team.
Many congratulations to all who took part.
