Princethorpe College Pupil Stars In Celebrity Studded Gala Performance At The West End

Concluding a busy year of National Youth Music Theatre work, Year 8’s Sebastian Dibb united with nearly 200 nationally auditioned young actors to take part in their one-off Gala performance at The Adelphi Theatre, London. Celebrating 40 years of this acclaimed children’s company, NYMT, the grand scale event saw youngsters joined by a glittering array of alumni including; Jasper Britton, Gina Beck, Siena Kelly and Gavin Spokes.

The evening, appropriately called, Encore, involved thirty-eight show-stopping numbers from the forty years of NYMT performances including staple favourites such as; Bugsy Malone, Whistle Down The Wind and Guys and Dolls. Sebastian had a busy night of performing in twenty musical items including two solo pieces where The Adelphi stage rang to the sound of the Princethorpe pupil’s voice. A taste of NYMT shows planned for 2017 was also in the offing with Sebastian taking on the titular role of the newly commissioned musical ‘Billy The Kid’ in the penultimate act of the thrilling Gala programme. Spectacularly at ease with a stetson and a flurry of fire cracking musical flourishes he whipped up the audience to a standing ovation with his final ye-hah!

Acclaim for the Year 8’s performance came in the guise of an email sent to him from the writers of ‘Billy The Kid,’ Rich Hough and Ben Frost, who said, “You were utterly terrific…to say you brought the character to life, frankly doesn’t do justice to your performance.” High praise indeed.

With Sebastian describing the experience as ‘magical,’ he’s already looking ahead to future auditions to be held early next year. We wish him well with his future stage endeavours.
