Foundation News - Crescent School Head To Retire After 14 Years

Crescent School Headmaster, Huw Marshall has announced his intention to retire at the end of the current academic year. Mr Marshall has held the post of Headteacher at the Rugby independent school for 4 – 11 year olds since 2002.

The Crescent recently merged with the Princethorpe Foundation. Commenting on the announcement Mrs Mary O’Farrell, Chair of Trustees for the Princethorpe Foundation said, “Huw has given 14 years of outstanding service to the Crescent and is held in high regard by his colleagues and generations of parents and children. We are immensely grateful for all his support throughout the merger and over the coming year as the Crescent takes its place firmly within the Princethorpe family.”

Comments Huw Marshall, “I have enjoyed 14 very happy years as Head of the Crescent School. The school is now beginning a new and very exciting chapter in its history as a part of the Princethorpe Foundation. The future looks very bright for the Crescent and the timing is perfect for me to hand over to a younger person who can develop and take the school to new heights.”

The search for Huw Marshall’s successor starts with immediate effect. The closing date for applications is Tuesday 25 October, with interviews taking place in November. The successful candidate will enjoy the support of Ed Hester, the senior Head of the Foundation and Head of Princethorpe College, and the fellowship of Rob Duigan, Headmaster of Crackley Hall, Princethorpe’s other junior school and nursery, based in Kenilworth. He/she will also be involved in the strategic direction of the Foundation and sit on Princethorpe’s Admissions Panel.

The Foundation plans to announce within the next few weeks who will be taking over the headship in September 2017. In the meantime it will be business as usual at the Bawnmore Road school, which is holding an Open Day on Friday 7 October from 10.00am to 3.00pm aimed at prospective parents and children from Reception to Year 2.
