Fisher Rise To The House University Challenge!
Fisher have been crowned this year’s champions of the hotly contested House University Challenge. The Fisher team got news of their first place position after Benet won their last match against Austin, but only by 20 marks.
Going into the final round Benet were ahead by 40 so they were a starter and one bonus away from the championship, but Austin buzzed in first to correctly identify the cenotaph and that, and bonuses, reduced Benet’s winning margin to only 20, giving Fisher first place.
House University Challenge is based on the long running, popular TV quiz show. Mr Hester’s unique twist on it was to ask for teams to have one member from each year group. Dr Peaple sets some 'starter questions for 10' related to curriculum topics that are only open to a particular year, so all members of the team have the chance to make a vital contribution.
Two years ago we introduced the round-robin format, so each match remains vital and the brave contestants have a chance to quell initial nerves; as one of More’s stars Alexx Parkin said, “It is very different on stage to when you are in the audience or watching at home”.
The final results were as follows:
Fisher – 1st Place
Benet – 2nd Place
More – 3rd Place
Austin – 4th Place
