Kenilworth Mayor Mrs Susan Howell joined pupils at Crackley Hall School and Abbotsford School for their annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic. Mrs Howell brought along a special bear named ‘Cherry’ who needed to find a new home at the school. She was welcomed by children from Nursery to Year 6 and together they enjoyed a picnic lunch on the lawn. A bouncy castle, balloons and organised games of rounders and football kept everyone busy. To add to the festive atmosphere an ice cream van supplied well earned treats to keep everyone cool.
Abbotsford School and Crackley Hall School are being brought together in September 2010. The Teddy Bears’ Picnic allowed pupils, staff and parents from both schools to enjoy an afternoon of sunshine, storytelling and games.
Head of Abbotsford School Mr Dominic Cook said, ’All the children enjoyed the afternoon’s events enormously. The ice cream and games were a big hit across the age range. This was the second of two wonderful integration events allowing the children from both schools to get to know each other. We are all very excited about the merger and the start of a new term ahead of us in September 2010.’
