News - 26/03/2010 - Princethorpe Netballers Clinch County and National Victories
Princethorpe College netballers have achieved one of their most successful seasons of all time. The Under 18 squad won the Independent Schools’ Association’s National tournament for the third consecutive time. The tournament was held at Rugby School with the Princethorpe team working hard for every point and match. Victories against Trinity Devon, Hull Collegiate, Clare’s Court, Dixie Grammar and Ibstock Place took them to first place overall. Coach Mrs Emily Johnson commented,
‘I have never seen a team like this one before. They have so many strengths and play so well together, they deserve the success they have had this season.’
Princethorpe’s Under 16 and Under 14 squads narrowly missed out on National victories coming runners up in both National tournaments.
Not to be outdone by their older peers, Princethorpe College’s Under 12 netball squad performed magnificently last Saturday at Kingsley School and won the Warwickshire County tournament.
Convincing victories against Kenilworth School, Kingsley, Shottery and Southam took them to the semi finals where they played with confidence to come out on top against Henley in Arden with a 14-0 emphatic win. The final was against Kings High, a strong team that lead the way into the second half. Princethorpe was in danger of losing their heads but fortunately regained their composure to play as a focused team. They came up trumps with the final whistle and the score at 5-4 to Princethorpe.
Coaches Miss Louise Champion and Mrs Debs Brookes were delighted with their team’s performance.
‘Under miserable conditions the girls kept their heads and played with determination and skill. This has been an inspiring way to end the term.’
